Memory Lane

Weather's terrible and a bum leg. Time to clean out and organise tackle boxes.
I found some old vintage lures in an old box.
The top 2 are the 1st two lures I ever bought. A top water and a " broke back" . I bought them in 1961. Until then all my fishing was cane pole.
Still have those plus a Deadly Dudley from 1974. How I managed to not lose them I'll never know.
There's also a Slab Spoon and a Little George from the 70s. Attachment 359651

That's pretty cool right there. I can remember fishing with every one of those golden oldies in the good ole days of my youth. It reminds me of the other day when I was at my brother's house when he was showing me his collection of vintage Mepps, Bill Dance and Lucky Craft Lures that was pretty amazing too. I'll bet he had fifty different vintage lures that he has collected for most of his life.

It's funny, well maybe not, that those lures we all used are considered " vintage".
Good job not losing those lures.

I got some of them plugs in my building,somewhere?

Little George was a great lure along with the walker special on white bass at Cedar creek years ago! I have a couple of the broke backs like you have. I got a few others collected also. My brother Wayne, has a lot of Bomber lures in the boxes. They will never see the water. :Rofl Thanks for the memories! :highfive

Those are nice! Although they are getting fewer and farther between, I like to go in the mom and pop bait and tackle places that still exist. Older I get more nostalgic Ive become. Almost like stepping back in time.

Many biggun’s have been caught on those broke backs, was my mother’s favorite. I still have some of the older favorites but I’ve let many get away and a total house fire took the rest, along with much, much more. Good post and pic.

Didn’t check my tackle box, I was dumb enough to hit the water bout 8:30 26 degrees. Had ice in the guides till 10:00. Fished brush! Too windy to fish in the main channel. Quit at 2:00 with 83. Most were 9-10”

I once had a tackle box that was as big as a suitcase! When you opened it there were three trays on each side and every single compartment had lures in them. I LOVED chasing the bass back there (in my early 20's, 40 years ago). Farm ponds were my favorite. Later on I switched to fishing jugs for catfish so I sold that tackle box and lures and gave plenty more away. It's very doubtful that I could find a single bass lure around here anymore but I know I had the ones you showed....and can remember fishing them so I know I had to have caught fish on them.For top water I loved fishing a hula popper and a jitterbug (if anyone remembers those).;):)
