Interference question

I recently replaced my Lowrance with a Hummingbird Piranha Max 4, the transducer is mounted on the right rear pontoon the same place as the old one. I have noticed that when trolling it won't show fish and when I start my generator most of the clutter on the screen goes away. Just curious if maybe I don't have the settings right.
