I have had a rough couple of weeks with no fishing to speak of. So I decided to hit up my local creek with Yamaga Blanks Blue Current TZ Nano 71 with the Daiwa Luvias 2003 spooled with 4lb Sufix Nanobraid with a 4lb Seaguar Fluoro Meister leader. I went to an area of the creek that produced some good Green Sunfish action the first time I found it. I can tell Fall is finally on the way, as the water was definitely cooler than the last time I wade fished. The fishing was a little slow but I did manage to catch some decent fish. I caught some good Green Sunfish, small Bluegill, Longear Sunfish, and Largemouth Bass, and some pretty good Spotted Bass. I also caught a Freshwater Drum that was 3-4 pounds. Overall I am starting to dial in my creek fishing gear. After catch and fighting the drum, I have complete confidence in the Yamaga Blanks rod. It is super sensitive and turned the Drum with no problem. I won’t think twice bringing it the next time I go after smallies in the Ozarks. I have had an issue with my knot connecting the braid to leader. I am using the FG knot. Supposedly it is the best knot for attaching braid and fluorocarbon. On my bigger setup I use 8-lb braid and fluorocarbon and I have no slippage problem with the FG knot. I am wondering if the smaller diameter is leading to slipping. Anyone else have this problem with the FG knot with small diameter braid? I ended up finishing the day directly tying to the braid. The low vis green braid is hard to see anyway. All is all it was a great morning.
