Would anyone like to share how year round crappie fishing is in the area around mile marker 77? I don’t mind going 5-10 miles if the weather is decent. I do a lot of spider rigging and started pulling crankbaits the last 2 summers.

I'm headed to that area this weekend. I'll be in a boat trying doing a mix of bass and crappie fishing while others bass fish. We've typically fished shallow banks and docks, but I'll be seeking 8 FOW or more this year, especially with the water temps still pretty high.

Not surprised, most of the docks around us are in about 5 FOW. Maybe the cooler temps will bring them in by Saturday.Quote:

If you are looking to buy on LOTO, I highly recommend 10'+ of water off the end of the dock during the summer months. The lake drops around 6 feet in the winter and they keep it at that level until April/May time frame. If you buy a house with a dock in less water than that and keep your boat on a lift and want to fish during the winter, your dock will be on the ground, thus no boating opportunities.
Agree with above and there is good year round fishing in the Brown Bend area 50-60 mm. zone
