Another trip to Monty

Tom and I made another trip to Monticello Friday morning. We tried Comalander's spot but he has it well hidden because we didn't duplicate his success. We had to hunt fish all over the lake to jig up enough for a small mess. I did get a solid hit on my Berry Spoon only to discover it was a fat 4# catfish.
I forgot to take a cooler shot so maybe Tom did before he cleaned them.
I saw where Remus and Fishfinder did well on Wylie so I might bring Tom up to try them when y'all plan another trip. Just give us a few days notice so we can maybe work out coming. I haven't fished Wylie in a good long while so I'm overdue.

Glad you tried to find them. We had the same luck Friday two weeks ago. Comalander, had a video up yesterday with him catching fish on Monticello the day before. Some of his stuff may be past trips that he didn't produce for a show and were deemed not enough to put together for a video. :dono Just seems that they bite when he's there and no one else! I know if they were biting, then everyone should find schools of perch and catch some. JMO You can come up here any time! You just holler and someone will go with you and tom! :popcorn

He put up Part 2 of his trip Monday. He did really good on Perch. We were there Monday, talked to him at ramp when we put in. Haven't perfected his 3 jig technique however Tom caught two nice ones at once using that rig. I'm so used to the spoon it's hard to switch over .

I think he "loops" his footage. The Raccoon got zilch and I got sum :)

The key to Monticello is having a good map and fish underwater points. You can’t spot points by looking at the shoreline like most lakes. The second key is fishing the right depths on those points. Some days it’s 40 foot other days it’s 30 foot. It’s critical to fish that depth on every point. Also just fish the points!!! Sometimes you can’t see them on the fishfinder till you get them stirred up. Trust me!! Beating the boat works!!

We typically fish the underwater islands. There are dozens of humps that are 30-40 feet. We usually find fish on some of them but lately haven't hit the "Mother Lode".
We'll add the points to our checklist.:ThumbsUp
As far as beating the boat, Tom built a mechanical one using a windshield wiper motor. I just have an old dowel rod. :Rofl

Tackleboat, Thanks for the info. Remus will a fish a point or a hump until your blue in the face. That's what we did and found a few. They were somewhere else to be found. We fished from 99 ramp to the dam, looked at both sides, going down and back up. Also, looked around the islands 10ft to 70 foot. Just a bad day. And yes, we beat the crap out of the boat! Our plan is DYNOMITE next trip! :Rofl

I usually do better on narrow points and never waste my time if I see too much bait. Too much bait is usually over 50 feet. Also in tough days when they won’t hit sliders or grubs like Comalander uses the Kastmaster spoons have always produced for me.
