How deep is to deep for sinking structure ?

:confused: I sink most stuff in 20'. What is the deepest I should sink structure?

I think it all depends upon what time of the year you want to use your cribs. How deep is the deepest water? Are there drop offs near the 20 foot range? If your going to be fishing them in the spring and fall why not move them shallower. You'll get the fish twice each year. Once on the way into spawn and when they are leaving the spawning areas. Then again in the fall when they go on there feeding spree just before winter. If you place them real shallow they may only be good in the spring, and too deep they may work in summer, if there is enough oxygen at 20 feet and again in winter. All the brush I sink I try to place it in the mid depth range, my lake is only 30 feet deep and has alot of drop offs at the 12-15 foot depth. That's where I put mine.

Depth is relative to the body of water. What is too deep on one lake may not be deep enough on another.;)

This lake is an old Miss. river horseshoe lake. About 10 miles long & 1/2 mile wide. The channel is around the outside of the horseshoe, close to the outside bank & 50' deep. So there is over a 1/4 strech strech sloping from the channel to the inside bank. We catch alot of fish on the shallow side under piers in 8-12' water. I have some bruch in 20' on the shallow side and it seems to do better than my 20' brush on the deep side. So would putting brush in 30' water on the shallow side be too deep? This would be in the middel of the lake & no structer at all out there! If you have any suggestions from the map attached please make them! Green is channell 50'deep, red spot is 30' deep & blue spots are 20' deep.

The River Channel And Fish As Deep As 45 Feet
In Winter And Summer. Works For Me.

Are there any other small creeks that run into the lake? If you put structure in 30 feet of water then they are sure to find it going from deeper water to the brush at 20 feet. Summer and winter would probably be the only time to catch numbers of fish off of it. looks like a nice lake to spider rig on if you could just go from spot to spotwith a GPS

Thanks guy's. I do fish all year, so I will try the 30' & even the 45'. THe 45' will be clost the the channel, should work well. There is no major creeks coming into the lake. One small ditch-creek no wider than 30' and plays out as soon as it runs's into the lake.
