New boat ramp

I was off work today and joined by buddy who is doing the creel survey this year on Barren River lake. Fishing was slow for most everyone today...saw a few good crappie but no big numbers being caught. Not very many people were out there even trying it today.

We boated over to the new ramp that has been built just before you cross the dam. I couldn't believe it...here is this nice four lane ramp built, but it's still out of the water. I realize at summer pool it will work fine but what about the other 5 1/2 months during the year that it's not. So why'd they build this new ramp if they weren't going to make it long enough to use all year. I was also told that it was only going to be used for Bass fishing tournaments. Does anyone know abou this?

Don't the "powers that be" folks know that not everyone is a bass fisherman?

I agree, other fisherman spend money too. Bass tournaments on Barren have gotten to be ridiculous. You can't get on the lake on the weekends anymore. Seems like they have 3 or 4 going on every weekend.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not bashing tournaments but it's not like Barren is Kentucky Lake or anything. I think they should limit the number of tournaments on the lake myself.
