Welcome aboard! I fish those two lakes a lot. I like Amon Carter personally. Not too crowded. Lots of timber. Deep and clear, especially on the new side. Free public launch. Good for bass, too. Bridgeport, on the other hand does produce better crappie. However, it is pretty crowded, especially in the summer with ski boats, and such. Good fishing under the 380 bridge, and up in either of the two river arms that feed it. Free launch up at the Wise County Park. You might give Ray Roberts a try, too.
some of the docks on Bridgeport are about as good as it gets for nice crappie .
the bridge in the winter can often be about as good as it gets as well .
Amon g is great on the new side for no recreational fools and full of timber and super clear .
the old side on amon g has lots and lots of eater fish around the docks in the turbid water .
of the 2 I like the crappie size on Bridgeport myself .
pm me if you want for some inside scoop on Bridgeport as I know a thing or 2 about a presentation for big fish few use there .
I've never been on Amon but have did Bridgeport and it is a great crappie lake.....
The one time I fished it I was with a couple buds one being ole Ketchum and we had a blast......
That lake has zebras to sooooo drain your boat afterwards......
