Annual Big Daddy Fishing Event (Santee 08/03/19)
My Grand son and I competed in the yearly adult youth fishing event held out of Santee State Park. A large field of young anglers and adult chaperones were on hand. We had a challenging, but good half day of fishing this year. We caught 33 weighable crappie, with our top 20 (1 legal limit) topping the scales at 20.75 lbs. We did our best, but as luck would have it, it was not good enough this year. Catfish dominated the trophies this year, which seems unfair, but the criteria was any fish that lives in the big lakes. The rules for this event seems to change each year, or anytime a new park ranger takes the reins. Regardless, it is a fun day with all participants getting prizes and a nice cookout to end the day. A big thank you to all park personnel and sponsors for all their hard work and donations.
