Cuz Levon and crappie 71719
What a blessed day that we had this morning after all the hot sultry weather of late. Levon and I knew before hand that it was going to be cloudy and cooler with an 80% chance of rain and thunderstorms later on in the day. We watched the radar on our smart phones and got off the water before 10 am. We only had to put on our rain suits twice.
The solunar tables gave us a 7:11 to 9:11 feeding period and the fish were following that schedule closely. We landed 12 keepers that Levon wanted to relocate to Crisco Bay. He probably caught a couple more than I did but I got big fish honors with a 13.5” Black crappie and a 15.25” Largemouth bass. I took pics of Levon and his best fish and I only let him take my pic with the bass. Grin. You all have seen me enough.
Bobby Garland Baby Shads, Slab Slayers, and Minnow Mind’Rs in different colors worked. We had several shorts that we will catch next year. We caught fish in a deep ditch just off the main river channel, 2 fish on a bluff, and the rest off a roadbed.
Water temp was 84.6 and current flow was 21,000 cfs. Wind from the southwest at a pretty good clip. During one rain squall, it was white capping the lake but soon passed.
