I fished a small private pond recently that has crappie, perch and sunfish. I've used the lure that came with the Beetle Spin rig which is nothing more than a straight double tail, but thought why not others. So I added a Crappie Magnet grub to the jig and caught fish immediately - color not mattering !

I tried a curl tail grub but only got a few fish whereas the straight tails did much better.
I have been using other plastic even hand ties on a Beetle spin for years.

I always did very well for all species with mr twister with the curly tail. But if changing to split tail whatever works better for you great. will have to try that combo.
Bet I could use a Joker with two or three tails. Similar in design.....Quote:

I make a lot of those, they are great!
go go minnow, sliders, southern pro grubs and curly tails , big bites curly tails , Mid south grubs .
love a real small spinner blade rig like that with a tiny rubber tiger colored skirt and a little curly tail for bass in farm ponds for sure .
I like the mini strike king with the willow blade myself and have used beetle spins in the past as well .
they will in fact ketch fish no doubt about it . congrats on your fish bro

Yesterday I tried this curl tail and it caught crappie and sunnies.

What this proved:
1. color no big deal
2. size matters! Too large or too small and and I got no hits.
3. a #2 colorado blade worked perfect.

i only use them in the colder season when there are less weeds in my shallow lakes, but almost anything would work!
