I am going to put rod holders in my boat. I have used HiTek on previous boat. What is the distance that you have the rodholder mounted from the pedestal? I am putting it in a bass boat that has a recessed tray in the front for depth finder/trolling motor pedal and I was wanting to mount it in it. It looks like it will be about 26 inches or so if I mount it here. Is that too far of a distance? Appreciate any help you can give.
When seated....My rod holders are placed where my handles are 6 inches in front of my knees....that way i can grab a rod quick without having to lean way forward.

If your Bass Boat is like mine & has a really sharp nose (bow) and you intend to fish from a single seat (centered) then you may have to bring your rod holder mounts back a ways from the front center of the bow of your boat .... otherwise you're going to be constantly lurching forward to grab your rods. I mounted mine in such a way that I only have to lean forward a little bit to grab my rods, when I'm fishing solo from the front seat. I also mounted the rod holder on the left side of the bow just a little forward and a little more away from the gunnel than the one on the right, so that I can deploy and raise the trolling motor without having to make any adjustments to the rod holder bar. I can still reach it from the centered seat by simply leaning forward a little. I did a "sit in" measurement before the first screw was ever put in the boat's deck floor.
Now I have a double seat setup that I can use when two are in the boat & fishing out the front ... and the positions of the rod holders did not have to be moved to accommodate two anglers.
Moral of the story is : follow the old carpenter rule .... measure TWICE, cut once ... but tweaked a bit to -- measure twice, drill once.
Simple trick, get you a piece of wood that you can screw base to and it will kinda balance the holder. Sit in the seat and place it in front of you, then move it around until you find the sweet spot that works best for you. I’m like G in your style boat I like mine about 6 to 8 inches in front of my knees and rod buts just about level with knee caps. That way your not leaning over to reach them or bumping them with knees.
