I’m sure all you know this, but just the same here it is. Re-tye your knot often especially after a few fish. I know that you know that crappie fisherman sometimes hook bigger species such as largemouth. The first few feet of your fishing line catches heck. Make sure your drag is set properly and your line in good condition.

Yes sir, no doubt. Or if you’re shooting docks the constant tension placed on the line at the end rod eye will eventually weaken the line. When the line is slack you can actually see this. I cut this off and retye periodically. This has allowed me to land 7 plus pound fish on 4 lb line. Of course I usually set the drag at about 25 to 30% of the line test weight.
