4# mono

Haven't seen any in a long time but in town today and found some. P Line. Awfully expensive for me. 300 yds was $8.99! Then got home and started changing out the 6# on my crappie reel. Thought occurred to me in the process. Why in the world do they make the spool's on reels so deep. I got 300yds on that reel and didn't quite fill it! I remember in ancient history, the Mitchell 300 came with two spool's. One deep that held a lot of line and one shallow. So what fish that I might use this light line and light rod on am I in danger of being spooled? I think next time I change line on something I'm gonna put tape on the spool so it only hold a more reasonable amount of line. 300yds, 900ft! Do fish even live in water that deep?

I leave about 2/3 of the original line on, and tie the new line to it. When the spool got down that low, I was pulling it off and changing it anyway.

Pull 50 yards off of the old 6# line and add 50 yards of the 4# line, plus a little more because it's thinner.

When it's time to put on new line I tie on a 1/8th oz. jig (the biggest I use) and go out in my back yard and cast as far as I can and then cut off what I cast plus a little more, and then tie in the new line.

Depends on where you fish. Sometimes when I'm in the tree tops, I think I lose enough jigs/line that 300 yds would only last me 2 trips!!!!!!
