Jig head shape for fishing rocks?

Does any one find one shape crappie jig head over another that releases better form rip rap when hung?

We fish spillways and tail races with current and rocks. Often, fish hold near the bottom and drifts must be made tapping the rock tips to entice a strike. This results in occasional hangups.

From experience with larger jig heads, poison tail jig heads poured on a 30 deg hook release much easier from the rocks than 90 deg round heads of the same weight. I'm wandering off this is true with small jigs also?

I really don't know on this subject . not sure what would be the best for rock hopping

No reason why smaller jig heads would be any different. If you pour your own keep using the 30 degree heads. If you buy jig heads, look for the Owner JH-85, which have two tie in points, one on top like a 90 degree jig and one at the front. If you use the front eye, they seem to slide over rocks at least a little better than round heads on 90 degree hooks.

If you are wedging the jig head, go with a jig head that is smaller diameter than the plastic behind it.

Have you thought about using tubes with the tube jighead that goes inside the tube? They might bounce off the rocks more easily.

I use a slip cork when I fish the rocks. Trying to fish in them is dang near impossible where I fish.

Charlie brewer slider jighead was designed for weedless. It works pretty good.Attachment 347750

truth ….lots of lost jigs is my experience most of the time as well
