Personally, I dislike carpet. Very difficult to clean, if at all possible. Smells after time. If it rains, your deck will stay with the wet carpet for a while. I don't think that's a good thing. It does feel good on the feet however and does look pretty, but I look at it like it's a "fishing" boat.....not a cruise liner.
My Crestliner had a "Rhino" lining type coating over the entire decking area. A rubberized paint on coating that has skid resistance and quite easy to spray down and keep clean. But it all boils down to what you feel good about having. I'm sure many here can assist you in the carpeting, if that is what you want. I just want you to know that there are other options. JMO. :)
One thing i didn't say was my boat is a alumicraft stick steer. Once i am in the water there is no moving. That puts 99% of the ware in one small spot, not sure if carpet will hold up and there are other products out there. The carpet i now have is past wearing out, what are the pros and cons of vinyl products.
No pro's on carpet IMO as I am looking to replace my moldy stained carpeting for a winter project. Lots of youtube video's on how to put on a coating or just go to vinyl which is where I am heading.
Line X Bed Liner is the best I have tried. Cooler on bare feet, non slip, and easy to clean.. It also weighs less than carpet... One time Fix..
Following this. I don't want carpet either but my boat gets hot as blazes in the summer. It has a Zolatone interior....which is easy to keep clean, but man it gets hot.
Regards
seadeck liner. its a rubberized vinyl that is soft, non-skid and tough as nails. ranger is putting it in their bayboats now. also you can pull your plug and just scrub it and wash it off with a water hose. SeaDek Marine Products - Swim Platform Pads
I installed interiors in ski nautique boats for a while, and did the carpet as part of that. That said, I wish my boat had a weatherproof coating, or a pebble grain deck like some of the Tritons orRangers I have seen. The sea deck option is spot on. Great stuff, durable to everything I have heard. One point I want to bring up is that you’re only going to do this once in many years if you do it right, make it what you want.
