Any ideas of how to catch a crappie after all this water.
Fishing report from Dardanelle state park reported ramps closed. But some back water areas have ramps that are still open . Last time over I caught a few around brush piles but they were so poor I released them before leaving . Not sure where the Shad are but I have not seen them or found any in the fish I cleaned last several weeks . Last ones I cleaned most empty , a few had Bream , Drum and such but no Shad .
This is a jig just over 2'' and a Sunfish that came out of a Crappie last month .

Thanks Nimrod, that's amazing that there are no shad. I wonder if D10 has any idea about the shad? Like most fishermen I will fish hard and try to find a few anyway. We've had these reservations for a while " it's our anniversary and my wife loves to camp there". In the past we have caught some really good crappie there, she thinks she beat me there last time, what ever, that's not what I remember. I'll report on what we find next week. Thanks again.
Nimrod was the first one to mention this to me. He said the Shad were gone before the flood. Not really sure what to think. I don’t think it would be anything unnatural. It is probably related to river flows over the last year or two. The best people to ask are the District 9 Fisheries biologists out of Russellville. They are the experts on this fishery.

I bet you can roll up your sleeves, put that live scope in the water, and scrap out a mess of fish. Hope you guys have a good camping trip. We are leaving around noon today for a two day trip to hickory creek. After looking at the weather reports I think that campfire will feel pretty good tonight.
I know the weather is amazing. It's going to be warmer in Russellville by the time we get there but still nice. Yea Richard, I put the livescope on my 16' aluminum boat for the first time and I'm going to see how it works attached to the trolling motor. I'm waiting till Garmin comes out with facial recognition software for the scope so it can tell the crappie from the trash fish...lol.
I have pulled Jigs and crank baits all over Illinois by you and Caught one 14 inch Croppie and lots of white bass
Your fishing some tough conditions with all the flooding and high current hang in there they have to eat at some point
