5-Gallon buckets only

I have been tossing around ideas about some cheap effective structure for a couple of months now and wanted to get some feeback on my idea.

I thought about using some buckets with pvc like I have seen on this website but I think it is hard to get a lot of mass built up. I then thought about using some sort of plastic culvert but that would be pretty expensive.

My latest idea is to get five or six 5-gall buckets and stack them on top of each other to make a six or seven foot column. The buckets would be stacked lip to lip and bottom to bottom, secured together using tie-wraps. Using a rock in the bottom bucket, they would be very easy to sink. The bucket stack is cheap, easy to transport and assemble on the water, and would create a lot of mass if you had 10-15.

Any ideas or sucess this this?

I would look at the bamboo or pvc ideas here. I just dont think that a stack of plain buckets would attract much.

You could even cut holes in the sides of the buckets to slide PVC in there to give it horizantle structure too. how are the currents would you need more weight since the bigger mass would cause more drag?

I saw something on here a long time ago about a pvc and plastic bucket "tree" where they had cut the buckets in half or thirds and secured them to a vertical piece of pvc pipe. Looked like a great idea to me.

In our area, crappie like to hang out around the bridge columns. The stack of buckets would be like the columns under the bridge.

Maybe some additional PVC through the buckets would enchance the structure.
