I made another trip to Swan Creek today. Caught and released 6 small Crappie on a jig and bobber. The gills were a little slow on spinners, but I'm learning how to fish a bit with redworms. I ended up keeping a limit of gills, mostly smaller than last week but will taste same in the grease! Released many, many smaller fish. Good day, but dang HOT!
Beats baling hay, which is what I was doing! LOL

Strange, last week I caught and released 100 plus Sheelcrackers on artificial lures that were between 8 and 10 inches. Today I only caught a hand full in the same area with redworms.
DB, we had a similar experience here on Lake Marion recently. We spent several days at friends cabin fishing for Shellcrackers, which had been a hot bite for a month. First afternoon we caught 68 between the two boats. Same spot next day about half that, then the following day almost none.
Then the next day we started picking up nice Bluegills (hard for this SC country boy not to say " Bream).
That was our last day unfortunately, but my unprofessional opinion is the Shellcrackers had finished their cycle and the Bluegill were starting.I
They spawn several times here during the spring and summer but May is big month.
Thanks for the report. Thinking about trying to catch a few gills early tomorrow before it gets to hot.
