Did a summer internship down there years ago and fished off the bank quite a bit in the lakes in Natchez Trace State Park. I caught some nice Gills and small bass from the bank on Pin Oak. Had a friend who Crappie fished the lakes, but only fished when the Crappie were shallow and spawning. If fishing now I would pull/push jigs deep or even pull cranks. With the proper electronics I think you could dissect the lake methodically and find the Crappie on a regular basis after a few trips. Good luck!!

I have caught alot of crappie at pin oak.Not alot of biguns though,decent bass and bluegill thouh.

I've been down there a few times but its always been right in the middle of the post spawn funk, we would go rent a cabin for a long weekend for my wife's birthday which is May 1rst. I never had any luck with crappie but caught bass and bream. There was a guy who used to post here years ago, I think his screen name was Dickie something or other. He seemed to do pretty good catching crappie on Pin Oak. I hear that once the summer gets going the skiers and jet skis get pretty bad on that lake. Its not a very big lake and I can imagine it would not be very pleasant to fish with a bunch of skiers and wakeboards on the lake.
I was just there this weekend. I pull cranks in the summer and catch a bunch but none too big. 11 inches is a monster in that lake. My kid loves it cuz of the numbers. And the 8 inchers taste just as good, if you don't mind filleting them. You'll also catch lots of small bass (which the TWRA encourages us to keep as long as they're under 12 inches) and an occasional catfish. It's a pretty lake, and fun, but don't go there trophy fishing.

I think the state record black crappie was caught in one of the other, smaller lakes at Natchez Trace state park.
