Caught a few scattered Crappie on the main lake 6' deep. Most of "my" spots were unproductive I suspect because of high water and clarity.
Lots of string algae I haven't seen before?
I noticed a lot of people on the face of dam as I was keaving. My guess is that the Crappie bite picks up right before dark.

Having about the same luck, find a few here or there but can't really get on them. Now the forecast calling for more rain, here we go again. Might try to hit the river after work, see what's going on up there.

One thing you are right about is you can't catch fish sitting at home. Just because I had one mediocre day I shouldn't have thrown in the towel and I thank you for reminding me of how spoiled previous spawns have made me.
we are all guilty of wanting to go to our usual spot for spawning crappie and wearing them out. but that doesn't happen all too often, especially in this Monsoon spring! So you have to hunt and find them even if your a bank guy. Good luck in finding them.
Looks like the rain is back, my brief moment of optimism has been shattered. I haven't even put my kayak in the water this year and it looks like the days without rain will be too windy for me to do so.
As you can tell I'm weak and subject to depression :-) The encouragement you guys offer really does help. What worries me most is I'm getting old and afraid I won't be able to fish the way I like for many more years. A bad year is a lot more troubling than it once was.
To be fair I have already had a good year and got in on some good fishing just not at Smithville. Got to see things as a glass half full :-)
It can be done at Smithville, look at this HUGE Smithville Keeper from yesterday! Catching was MUCH Slower than the wind speed. :RoflrotflQuote:
