So I came across this video online and was amazed so I had to try it. It’s a simple technique for making dubbing and material for fly/jig tying that is very inexpensive. You take yarn and brush it with pet brush. Easy peasy. Plus it looks like troll hair!

Do that a lot with wool batting . Like the jigs but the center one is the best, Keep the ends uneven!

I think those were 1/16 with #4 hook. I’d have to go look to be sure. If I get time I will put one in fish tank tonight. I think they should work. I have since seen videos of others doing this same thing for dubbing. They mostly use wool but some acrylic which is what I used.
The thing about dubbing is almost anything can become dubbing, even the fluff on the base of a feather. That is one reason I wanted to learn the Rope dub method of tying, I just need to do a lot more of it, but then I don't need any chenille, lol!
