I have been wanting to buy some large spools to save money on respooling my reels. I don’t know that I would use up one of those large spools in a season. I Was planning on buying a few line sizes.
Will they be good keeping them year to year? I always buy line and use it up n buy fresh. These big spools may last me a few years. Or does the line go bad or get memory on those spools after a period of time? Thanks!

I have quite a bit of trout sos hoarded and I store it in a few grocery bags in the closet... still as good as new

I have one of the old bulk spools Trout Magnet used to sell.....it is a 20,000 yard spool. I've had it for about 6 years now. It is as good as the day I got it. I have been keeping it in my garage. It's the 2# test...which really breaks at 3.5 pounds. Two weeks back landed some 19 inch smallmouth with it......no problems. As long as it is kept out of direct sunlight or left in extreme heat...like a car.....it will be fine.Quote:

Keep it in a cool place out of UV.
I keep all spare line in a soft sided cooler in the shop . Never had a problem .
I have an old refrigerator which I store line and shotgun powder (reload) in. There is an old 2500 foot spool of Stren magnathin 12lb in there I have had for years. It seems to be as good as new.

I keep them in my beer frig in crisper bin , never a problem.
