Hi all...
New to this forum and new to crappie fishing. Just moved to Lake Oconee, so looking forward to some fine times. Just wondering if there is a best time of the day (or night) for crappie fishing? Lake water here is usually pretty stained I believe. Thanks!

I usually catch the most till about 10 am, then the bite seems to slow for me mid-day, and pickups up again around 2-3 pm... this on most of the lakes I fish. Of course, time of year, temperature, water conditions, lake traffic, cloudy/sunny day all effect the bite as well.
I rarely crappie fish at night.
Fish when you can, you can't catch them on the porch.
Best time to go is when you can.:fish:biggrin. they going to eat some times.lately, Blacksher is doing better in the afternoon. this weekend we caught them in the morning around the boat slips.
If youre longlining or pushing then daylight is the best time to start. Back when I night fished dark until nidnight was best for me (and this was during the winter months).
Early and late. Like someone else said midday usually slows down.
Go when you can though.

999, what part of the lake are you on?
Daylight till mid-morning, then from 3:00 oclock till dark. Back when i was self employed, i would go anytime available. Summer will make it necessary, to go earlier as it gets hotter. Also will need to experiment with different colors depending on low light or cloud cover.
Low light conditions as what i have observed seem to be the lower the light, the darker your lure will need to be. Same goes with clarity of water, adjust color and the clearer the water, the lighter your lure needs to be.
