Phillip and I had one of our better mornings of fishing today. It was a mixed bag of 6 Spotted bass, 1 Largemouth bass, 1 Smallmouth bass, 5 yellow bass, 6 white bass, 1 Shellcracker, 3 Bluegills, and 28 keeper crappie plus several shorts and 6 keepers that pulled off at the boat before reaching the net.
We decided to use different lures today and it paid off. Strike King Slab Slangers and Slabalicious were really good today with black Chartreuse being best color but other colors worked too. After we fished a couple of hours, I switched to a bluegrass stump bug and it was a hot lure too.
A few bass fishermen showed up after we had been there for a while and they were catching lots of bass. We saw several caught. We caught ours on crappie jigs. Grin. I caught my Smallie on the Stump Bug.
Water temp was 55.3 degrees and strong current flow on main river but we stayed out of that flow. The fish were 6-12 feet deep in most places. We quit fishing before noon.
