Lots of crappie with Phil 31519
Well, so much for the lake beginning to clear up slightly. After the torrential rain and thunderstorms of yesterday evening and well into the night, the milky green water had turned back to coffee with cream and trashy again. Sure makes it difficult to get a handle on the fish with them getting treated like a Duncan yo-yo.
The docks that Candi and I have found so good on Wednesday had turned into a mud hole today. So, we had to put our thinking caps on and try something else. We made good choices as we caught many fish, most of them were in the 9” range and not keeper size for our lake. They must be 10” to keep on Chickamauga lake.
But we did managed to scratch out a dozen keepers for Dr Phil. I have enough crappie now for my family so I won’t be keeping many more unless my partners want them.
Nothing beats time on the water when fishing conditions get tough and you have to call on memory to find fish that you don’t normally fish for. But we stuck with 1/32 and 1/24 oz jig heads with Stump Bugs and panfish Assassins 1.5” to fool the fish today. We caught 4 or 5 short fish for every keeper that we landed. The water surface temp was up a couple of degrees too. 53.6 and that moved the fish a little more shallow. Most of our fish were 7-8 feet deep. Tva still moving a ton of water throughout the system. When will it ever get back to normal?
