That's what I needed to be sure I had plenty of fillets for dinner . So off I went in the dark this morning with my john boat . Floats at ready and away we went . Then as it often happens bass after bass after bass :banghead
After a bunch of floats gone down and a ton off bass including one that smashed my float and then my jig , I get another taker. I fight with it some and tell my bud yep another darn bass and up on top it comes and its a dandy crappie !
Well as it would happen about a foot from lipping it out pops my jig and way she goes . We both say ok , they are shallow we just have to get dialed up some .
We find only more bass and travel to all the spawning areas we know and it gets worse the more we travel . So we decide to go back to the general area I hooked the only crappie we saw so far.
Well I pitch and he pitches and at one point my float goes under real slow and something is on for a moment and then gone . then right afterwards he ketches a decent crappie . So the story begins and we start ketching a few crappie . Now mind you there are 2 bass to every crappie and about 2 thirds of the crappie or more we hook get off . :banghead
Anyway I got to string me up a 6 pack of nice ones and lose about a huge number of crappie for unknown reasons , but to be sure it was fun and then it stopped …..not a peck and it starts to rain and homeward I went .
The crappie I landed for the most part took the jig deep and were very committed to eating it as some took my float down a long time when I was day dreaming and or bird watching ….:Rofl
about 2 foot deep under a float and if you moved your jig you wouldn't get bit ,dead still is how they liked it ,water temp was 54 and they were in about 4 fow ...
and now ….
guess whats for dinner tonight ….yeah buddy and …
KABOOM :highfive
