I get three weeks a year for vacation time and I usually devote 1 week to duck hunting in December. This year, I'd like to take a week off for spring crappie. Having trouble deciding when to put in for. I am leaning towards the opening week of Turkey season (April 7th), I can chase tom's for couple of days, and then switch over to crappie the rest of the week. I know weather, and water temps is going to be the deciding factor, but just trying to get a general time frame. Any input?
Which part of the state ? I always figure on west central Arkansas second week of April barring a flood for Crappie
North east, up near Batesville.
Second week in April probably not a bad time to try both crappie and turkey. But the crappie fishing is somewhat limited literally right around Batesville. Greers Ferry probably the closest to Batesville for crappie. I have heard them gobbling around the lake while fishing the spawn a many a time though.Quote:

My plan is to hunt hard Monday and Tuesday, and then Wed-Sun fish hard. Not set on a certain lake, but would like to give Conway a decent try.
