oconee questions
Looking to take a spring fishing trip in mid march for a few days. Never been to oconee. Looking for lodging on the water and a couple creeks to fish sure would help. I am set up to spider rig or long line troll. Have been looking at map. in your opinion is north end or south end the best. Have heard lake is shallow if you get out of channel. All help is appreciated. THANKS

I'll let the Oconee experts chime in, I've only fished a couple times, but I will say you need some good mapping on your chartplotter, like Navionics+, that show the flooded timber areas. Most are also marked with buoys/posts. Its a good place to hit something with your motor lower end if you aren't careful.

Google The lodge on oconee is on water with docks. It is in Lick creek, look at your map for Sugar Creek just up lake from Lick both great creeks. For march long line cover lots of water with jigs about 1mph. Lake is easy to run, just watch for buoys and where other boats are running. At mouth of lick are some underwater ruins and danger area marked well, just pay attention. If you go to above I-20 be real careful. Goid luck.

South Bay may rent condos, at mouth of lick, there are other places plus on lake vacation rentals.

X2 on anyplace above 1-20. Especially above railroad trestle. Boat eaters up there. Proceed with caution. Lake gets shallow quick if you get out of river channel. Beware of trash coming down rivers from recent flooding.
