Loose Transducer
A couple of weeks ago in between deluges I went fishing and noticed something I had not seen before. We were fishing for yellow perch with jigs and worms. I was surprised on the finder to see my jig doing what jigs do.....jigging. I had never seen that at the angle/position I was fishing. Well last week I bought another finder, a Garmin Echomap Plus 73sv. When I went to remove the Lowrance shimmer transducer I noticed that the screws had backed out of the polyethylene plate which was holding the transducer. They had each come out about 1/8". That explained the images I saw on the finder, and is a caution to me from now on to occasionally check the seating of the screws on the transon plate. Might now be a bad idea for trolling motor mounts also.

I forgot to add that I had not applied anything like a marine caulk to the screws. Perhaps the constant vibration of the transducer torqued the screws just enough to cause the shafts to start abrading the hole, thereby loosening the screws.
