The packaging that came with my new 11’ and 12’ Buck’s Graphite Jig Pole says “It is not recommended for use in trolling or spider-rigging applications.”
What is it about the construction and features of these poles that BnM would recommend then as not suitable for spider-rigging?
I know folks that use them to spider rig with. I will text Jack and see what he says and let you know.
My guess is that they're "primarily" a jigging rod and possibly very limber tipped to where a Spider Rigging or Trolling weight would bend them down more extensively than many people might like.
On the other hand, even members of their "pro staff" use them for Spider Rigging (I've seen videos) so :dono
I just talked with Jack Wells with BnM. He said the 10 and 12 ft bgjp are not recommended for trolling....but the 14 and 16's are.

The way I understood him...the shorter ones are for jigging and the longer ones for spider rigging. Thats why they are listed separately on two different pages in the catalog. The short ones say jigging and the long ones say trolling.
The shorter ones 8, 10, 11, and 12 are on page 5 and no mention of trolling...it does say the longer ones for trolling are on page 9. Over on page 9 it says it has the 14 and 16 ft. and says perfect for slow verticle trolling which is spider rigging.
However....Some folks do spider rig with the shorter ones with no problem...but it is not recommended by BnM
Those BGJP is a tough rod and although may not be built for spidering I use them for all my crappie fishing including swinging 2lb'ers in my boat.....
One tough rod and has the sensitivity to fish the lightest of jigs.....
Not sure why they don't use that as a marketing strategy....
I for sure put these rods to the test and the price can't be beat.....
