Y’all don’t forget those lifejackets

My crew and I spent four days augmenting the local law agencies search and rescue and later the recovery efforts for a man in Pickwick Lake. The guy was a 57 year old veteran of the waterways and at the end of his career when he inadvertently slipped and went in. It can happen that fast and the cold water this time of year can make a fool out of the best swimmers. Prayers for his family. I hope I don’t ever have to do that again.

Too sad! Wearing a PFD is a MUST! I know I couldn't be a 1st responder, it takes me TOO long to get over tragedy!

I know exactly what you mean. I pilot river boats and we just happened to be standing by in Pickwick Lake when it happened. We just lended our extra man power to the efforts.

Was he one of your crew? Either way it is terrible. Prayers for the family.

People think because they can swim that they can get by without a pfd but so much can happen and conditions can overcome the best swimmer. Thanks for the reminder. Prayers and thanks for you and your team for hat you do.
