I’m from Louisiana and travel to Midland TX once a month . Always wondered if there is any good fishing in the area . Looking for a time killer off the bank, bass or crappie!! Thanks in advance

Hey Cajun! Midland is a tough place to dig up a Crappie. JB Thomas (Big Spring) has limits of crappie in it, with lots of shoreline access...but almost all of the lakes around here are covered in flooded brush and I am not sure how well the shore fishing is. White River Reservoir (Southeast of Lubbock) has a lot of shoreline access as well as a crappie house. There is a good time to be had there. Right now people are doing decent there. Twin Buttes (San Angelo) should be good in February/March for the spawn. The lake has came up around 25-30ft vertical so -a lot of new cover for them to hide in.
I do not get on here very often but checked the forum and saw your post.
Justin in Midland
Thanks Justin for the info ? I do have a kayak that I could possibly haul up there . How is the one in Big spring — kayak friendly?

I would say that the Kayak is a good idea. JB Thomas will white cap almost daily. Rare to get a calm day. But there are a lot of places you could launch a kayak, and I am betting the spawn at JB will be a good one with all of the new flooded brush. You can watch the wind and fish areas that you will not have to fight to stay in place.
The city park in Big Spring also has crappie, catfish and largemouth. Buffalo Springs and White River are good kayak options around here also (for crappie).
Buffalo springs is good I think

I meet a lot of people from Midland that come to Coleman and Brown counties to fish. They all say its well worth the drive
might want to stop in at Leon and hit a few spots …..word ….:highfive
Got a limit there last weekend
Leon has some dandy crappie in it but because of the press it gets on some forums it sometimes gets heavy pressure
some EVEN go so far as to show and tell what docks they ketch them on ….:yikes
