Hello everyone just wondering on opinions for a rod and reel, I was recently gifted a Pflueger president in a 30 size and have been using a president in a 25 size, was wondering on input if that reel was a tad too big for crappie fishing? If not what length rod would you guys recommend for it? I am currently using a 5’6 UL and the 6925 size reel. Any input would be great!
In my opinion its just personal pref on the reel size. I personally like anything from 1500-2500 but I don't think it would make that much difference if you used the 3000 especially if its been gifted to you. The president is a nice reel.
What rod would you pair with a 3000? If you were to use it for all from crappie to white bass?
I use 35's for shooting docks. Wider spools lets the line come off smoother. Hence longer casts.

All things considered, I prefer a larger spool, seem to get less line twist and they cast better.
Whites can really pull a string, I'd probably go for a 7' medium action with a pretty fast tip with light line.
See I was thinking about a 6’ medium light fast action tip. But was worried if it wasn’t enough or if it was too much. I saw a fenwick 6’ one piece medium with a moderate fast taper was just worried if it was sensitive enough to feel crappie. And with white bass they pull line like no other lol. So I was wondering if I get into it with whites my setup I’d be alright too.

I never noticed much of a difference in sensitivity between a medium fast and ultra light.Quote:
