The rods I have...
12' BGJP and 14' PST'S.....
Might the 12' BGJP's be reducing catch due to length vs 14' ??
Are the 14' PST's too stiff for 1/2oz spider rigging?
Maybe neither is ideal for 1/2oz, but it's what I have...
Which would you think is better for 1/2oz spider rigging?
A bit shorter or little stiff?
I've heard of adding C&C tips to PST's....fit? work better for 1/2oz???

Personally I have caught just as many fish on 12’s as I have my 14’s and 16’s. I have some 12 pst and have fished 1/2 oz but they just a little stiff. BGJP just right for 1/2 oz. if they working for you don’t buy into all the hype about long poles unless you fish tourneys in real shallow water.
Don't fish tourney's yet, maybe in the future....

Moved to KY lake a year ago and it's been tough on me, heard others say same though.....(caught 1 fish yesterday).
Fish Reelfoot some, results not much better..
Trying to Learn/improve.....Dial in equipment......

On Ky most of the year you are fishing deep enough that rod length doesn't matter. Go with your preferences on rod stiffness as we all have different likes and dislikes about either. I fish ky and Barkley and I have a set of 14' C&C's that I spider rig with and a 12' set of west points that I long line with. When the fish are shallow use your 12 foot rods and long line. My two cents.[emoji16]

I have 2 sets of 14’s. Denali and Southern Crappie rods. The southern crappie are designed for 1/2 oz weights and spider rigging. Very sensitive and plenty of backbone. Big plus they are indistructable and cheap for the quality of the rod. Denali is a great all around rod sensitive, plenty of backbone but much more expensive. The southern would be my recomendation for you in 14 ft. Did not like their 16’s. Denali in 16 much more fishable.

I have used the 14 ft B and M rods for over 10 years, I have used as light as 3/8 weight in shallow water up to 2 ounce in deep water pushing crank baits. They are good rods. I bought a set of 8 Denali 16 ft, rods this winter because my wife would not let me buy the Garmin Live scope. Seriously. My Panoptix is all you need to find fish.
