My son and I are planning a trip to Eagle Lake the last week of February and would greatly appreciate any local information?
We never have fished the lake! :yikes
I know it all depends on the weather but any tips would be greatly appreciated! :fish

that time of year i would first look for bait balls in 15 - 20 ft of water last year they were suspended 8-10 foot with the bait, also i would never overlook the cypress trees in 4-5 foot. last year i caught fish shallow around that same time. so far its been a mild winter here so may i may be totally wrong.
Do you live in that area sir?:dono
Thank you sir! DO you live close and could give us a lake level report when it gets closer to us going?
We are going down 2/24-3/1
Lake should be pretty steady, unless this water doesn’t get down, they will have roads closed. If water still high, lodging in the immediate area is iffy. Hope this river water leaves soon. Closed hunting season and may edge into fishing for some areas.
If you’re gonna be there a few days and want to learn from some of the best, book one day with a guide. Brad Chappell is hard to beat, if he is booked he’s got some other folks he can put ya on

You should be fine, Float row in the deeper part should be a good start.
There was no disrespect intended Snubby!
It was just a general question because of the current lake level and flood warnings.
Someone that lives close to that area can give an accurate lake report.
Here’s the deal on Eagle. The lake will be high because they are unable to let water out of the lake. It won’t be flooded...just a little higher than normal. If the MS river goes above 46 1/2 feet on the Vicksburg gauge, the road going to the lake will be closed. You can still get to the lake via the levee. Not the best road and your boat will have dust in places you didn’t know you had. Low Water Bridge road to the main MS River levee is another route but it could get flooded by Steele Bayou, but they finally have the levee paved all the way down now. Anybody can tell you where Float Row is and the areas south of that has the deepest water. That will point you in the right direction.
