Most of the lakes near me have some Cypress trees , so spawning fish are easy to find .
But a couple of the lakes in easy driving have very few trees.
Where and how deep do you guys/gals find spawning fish?

Find rocks. Small brush piles on the banks.

Most of the lakes I fish have nothing but rock. I catch a lot of black crappie. During the spawn they will be as close to a foot just off a rocky bank...or on a rock pile that is out in deeper water but the pile comes up very shallow. Here is a pic of a spawning area I fish every year and they show up every year at same spot. If you look to the bank you will see the rock....it is the same under my kayak...all rock.

Rocks, weeds, pads, laydowns. They will spawn on what's there and protected.
