I’m in the same boat. My plan was using normal thread but I think I’m reconsidering and gonna use what is recommended by those in the know. Danville 210 denier nylon flat waxed thread.... made specifically for this purpose. Not to big and strong so not to break. I’m thinking I could just get a couple colors and use them for all. Won’t break the bank to bad and won’t fall apart on me. Skip at Thump It Jigs can hook you up.
I pay $1.59 for 210 denier tread. I have also used standard sewing thread. Using the correct flat wax thread makes tying much easier. I would suggest you go with the proper thread considering you will only be saving a few nickles.
Just sent you a PM!

210 for me!
As you progress you might try a spool of 140. I find it easier to hide, especially on smaller jigs. Just input.
Start with the best materials you can afford. The materials that are sold by distributors come from years of tying. I started trying to use cheap materials and when I started using the good stuff I had to relearn how to tie with the proper materials. There are some good suppliers out there A lot are sponsors and members on this site. Good Luck THE THUMP IS ALOT BETTER ON A HAND TIED
