Exactly what maribou do most use to tie with? Is longer better? I'm figuring on tying 1/16 & 1/8 crappie & may tie a few floatnfly jigs too. Thanks

That is one of the things you will probably need to experiment with. I have used the Blood Quills for years and like it as long as it's good quality and I like Hareline best for that. However the Select is also good, but for the most part is shorter stuff and I am not talking about the entire feather because it's longer, but the part you use to tie in, (the barbules) and while they are really fluffy, it's a bit shorter. I have been at this a pretty long time now and my last order I actually got some of the select in the UV version and it's looks great, but I have not tried out yet, soon I will.
It's hard to go wrong with marabou, but if you don't want the tiny stuff just don't buy any of the Woolly Bugger or Mini type. If you like shorter tails on your jigs maybe the Select is better, but if you want length I believe the Blood Quills are best, at least that is mostly what I use.

I prefer marabou fluffs - especially dyed grizzly. I usually tye in two feathers the same as I do with duck flank feathers.
The marabou fluffs hold up better than the larger type. In the water we fish, small baitfish and juvenile fish tear up the longer barbules.
