I wanting to take a minnow head mold and block off the collar. What type of material would you use ( like epoxy or something like that) to fill it in then be able to grind out the area for the hook shank. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

J-B Weld
Before going to the trouble I would just buy this mold.....just do not add the wire insert....Minnow Head Jig w/Wire Holder - Sz: 1/48, 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, 3/8 - Hk: 570 or 575 - Collar: Barb
Great idea but I was looking at the 3500 model.
Slow set JB weld. Take hook and coat shank with Pam spray. Fill with JB let set for a few, trim excess with razor blade, insert hook and clamp mold shut. Let cure over night and should have minimal trimming to do.

I use high heat permatex RTV it is a silicone. You can take it out if you decide you want to change it back

If you already have the collared mold.
After pouring just cut the collar off .
Real easy to takes a second.
