Using straight braid has kept me from losing a lot of jig heads. If I get hung up in the brush, I normally get back the jig head and a bent hook that I can quickly bend back and keep fishing. I like it for vertical jigging down into brush and also for casting. My favorite line is Power Pro super slick in yellow. If I get hung up real bad, I wrap the line around a short piece of bamboo (or anything would work) and pull on it that way... never wrap it around your hand or a rod handle... it will cut through!!
Oh and another tip... if you need to cut braid easily and cleanly... get you some fiskars brand child safety scissors. They work awesome and you can load up on them for about $1 each at back to school time!!
