I am in the market for a stick steer boat. Anyone got a brand they like better than others? looking for something 17' or less and at least 54" wide, getting old and not as stable as I once was, any input would be great, thanks

Sold my stick steer earlier this year. It was a 16 ft Duracraft with a 40 Yamaha. This model had carpet and was trimmed out really nice. Had full length rod holders down each side and a live well in the middle with a cushion top.
The Duracraft has a rail down each side that you can get numerous accessories for. I liked that I could move my rod holders (4 rod sets) up or down the boat without drilling any holes. You could also remove the entire set up in 30 seconds by unscrewing the rail clamp.
One of the most comfortable boats to fish out of that I've owned.
I noticed several folks recommended the War Eagle boat. That is basically identical to the Duracraft. No surprise though, because the War Eagle is made by Duracraft .
are they about the same price
Mine was a used boat so I don't know about the price comparison but they should be close. It was a 1999 that a local guy here bought for his son and grandsons to use when they were at his lake house. Turns out they much preferred the Pontoon so it sat in his garage most of it's life. Probably had 50 hours on it when I bought it.
The Duracrafts are tough boats. Back in the 60s that is all you saw on the Santee Cooper lakes with all the stumps.
Triton are lowe!
Check out the G3 or the Xpress. Both are awesome and really set up nice.
Several great boat builders in north florida. Extreme, blountstown marine, rhino is in hartford al. All will build to your specs. I have a extreme and love it.
Royal boats made in Alabama are in a class by themselves when it comes to stick steer boats. I couldn't afford one but I sure drooled over them.
They are fiberglass and they are a beautiful boat.
Check them out on their website.
I have a low 16 ft.like it but would go fiberglass if I were to buy another. better smoother ride.
