Hey guys, my problem is when I put the motor in gear it takes about 10 or so seconds before it kicks in. When it does it is a hard kick. I just need to know what it is and if it's an easy fix, or do I need to take it in.
Thanks.

I am not a Outboard mechanic but have you checked the level of the lube in the Lower unit,, If any water gets in it will form a thick goo
Like Fish said, first thing is check lower unit oil. Drain it and check for water and or metal partials. Like he said water gets mixed with that oil it can get thick and hinder gear from sliding on shaft.
Thanks guys, Ill check it out, doesn't sound like it's going to be an easy fix.
Does it seem to be idling to fast if so this can cause your problem.
