What kind of eggs on this stick?

Not eggs .... bryozoans (colony filter feeding aquatic animals). Usually their presence indicates good water quality.

I put em back where I found them

I see them all the time on bridge pillions on the lake i fish a lot close to my home

I've seen those things many times and always wondered (too) what type of egg clusters they were... (at least) until curiosity got the best of me... and I finally took pictures of some and sent them along with my question to the state wildlife department in Raleigh. After a week or so I got a reply email admitting that many of the wildlife officers apparently didn't know either... until they referred my pics to some State Wildlife Biologists who were able to solve the riddle for me.

Always figured they were frog eggs. Oh well, that's the second time I've ever been wrong.
