Anyone have any idea why my Navionics card causes my Helix 9 DI gen 2 freeze up every time its installed.. unit wont turn off or on if card is installed, have tried putting it in when unit is powered up and when unit is off then install card and turn on either way it freezes up.. it does not do this when installed in my Lowrance HDS 7 gen 2 touch screen.
Just an idea, with card out try going to maps and choose another internal map to see if it still freezes. If it works, make sure your settings on that unit match your other unit.

I had never tried it in this unit before, just tried the card yesterday while out on the lake..it may be something I'm doing wrong, does the unit automatically recognize the card is in or do I need to do something else.. this is only the 4-5 th time I've had it out on the water all summer.
I just put one in a new Helix 7. I had to go to the menu that ask what map I wanted to use. If I remember right it did not show up as Navionics on the list. I do remember that there was a check box for "auto" but I'm not sure

Here's what the book says: it says the unit should recognize the card automatically but I don't think mine did.

I thought I had read it mine it said it should recognize it, but it sure doesn't. I will have to play around with it some more when I go out next, problem is I'm always wanting to fish and not play with depth finder, doesn't do me much good if I don't learn all the ins and outs of it though.. thanks for the help.
I sat in my boat in my backyard and played around with mine so I wouldn't waste time on the water. Good luck! I'm still learning

You might check to see if the Navionics card you are using is compatable with the unit your installing in. Just a thought as there are different types. I.e. platinum, hot maps, etc.
