Talon power pole anchor question / help

First want let y'all know I changed my forum user name from "Wag" to ----> "zig zag"

OK back to question / help on Talon power pole anchor. Want to get one (maybe 2) for my 17 ft flat bottom al boat 60 hp. Just moved to Youngsville about a year ago and will be fishing Henderson mostly. Fish for bream / sac-a-lait jigging with long (10 ft and 12 ft) pole in shallow water mostly. Looking at the 8 ft Talon and wondering if it would be deep enough or should I get the 10 ft Talon for the Henderson area? Info on the 10 ft says it's good for anchoring in 8 1/2 ft of water with about 1 1/2 ft spike in bottom / ground depending on hardness. SO the 8 ft or the 10 ft Talon? AND 1 or 2 of em? I'm thinking about 2 of em so no swing / pivot with both of em down. Also will be using it for crabbing in the marsh.

I don't have a Talon, so certainly no expert, but consider how much weight you add to the back of the boat and how that affects sea worthiness esp in the marsh.

The longer the better....I have some 8 ft poles that slide thru a fixed bracket and sometimes they are too short....allow at least 1 ft in the mud and 2 or 3 ft above water...

yeap ------- probably go that way.
boat is a Hanko's custom welded 1/8" al --- 17 ft --- 70" flat bottom ---- w/ 60 hp Honda.
having 2 of em ( about 46 lbs each) on the back should not be a problem.

2 for sure. Or will drift and have to be on trolling motor

Are you set on spending the $$$ on a power pole? If not, check out the Cajun Anchor. I have 2 homemade versions and they work great in the marsh. I’m not sure how heavy the ones sold in stores are but if they’re heavy enough they should work in 10 fow. Mine are 6’ long made out of stainless heavy wall tubing. I’ve used them in 6-8 fow numerous times. Attachment 318988

thanks "lsufan1188" --------- using something like that now have 2 spear anchors 42" long 1" dia stainless steel rod with 20 ft of 1/2" braid line.

Want the power pole for bringing boat to a quick stop when catch fish without using TM because find the turbulence when reversing it to stop mess up the area where caught fish. And sometimes when catch fish by time have hook removed and have fish in ice chest the boat is all out of position from where I had caught fish.

Hope that makes sense.

Or if you know a welder, you can get these for next to nothing! I have 2 of them and yes they work great in the marsh!
