Cork Rod handle repair and restore
So it's been a long time coming. The filler has been coming out of some of my cork handles on my trolling rods. As we all know rods are not cheap so I did a little research and found out how to repair and restore the handles. These are some pictures of each step in the process. The Rod handles were very dirty just from normal use overtime so with some disinfectant wipes they cleaned up very well. Then I took the Elmer's wood filler and put some on the handle and rubbed it in with my finger. Once it was good and covered and all the little pockets were filled I took a paper towel and wiped all the excess off. I let them dry overnight then took some 800 grit sandpaper and lightly sanded the grips to get a smooth finish. I wiped them down once again with a disinfectant wipe to get all the dust off then let them dry overnight. Then I took a small foam brush and lightly coated each handle with the u40 cork seal. I think they turned out pretty nice the handle still have the good feel that I cork handle should and all the little pockets were filled in.Attachment 318331Attachment 318332Attachment 318333Attachment 318334Attachment 318335Attachment 318336Attachment 318337Attachment 318338Attachment 318339Attachment 318340
