Pushing cranks on Guntersville!

I did it. I pushed cranks all afternoon. I covered a whole lot of water. I fought a little grass, but it wasn't too bad. Here's a picture of all the crappie I caught today:

I marked fish. Fish stacked vertically. I trolled lots of creek channels. I scanned the river channels. I caught one yellow bass. My buddy caught a white bass and a bluegill. We ended the day watching bats come out of the "bat" cave and saw a beautiful sunset.

You done great !at least you were out on the water and you got to learn a lot!

There's a lot to learn about pushing vs pulling those cranks. I've only pulled, I think it is easier to figure out. Way to go getting after the pushing though!

I push a lot of cranks and the one thing I will tell you it is a great place to do so from June till the week before Labor Day. After that it is a tough gig to catch one on a crankbait. I don’t know what the temp drop does to them but it shuts them down.

That water is going to start cooling off before long. Then your going to get them. I know one thing, your hard after them and its going to pay off for you one day. The only way I could stand this heat would be absolutely wearing them out. Sat in dove field saturday and roasted my fat but off. Good shoot and enjoyed some good company but it was too hot

Yes, I'm hard after them. I'm ready for that cool off. The temps weren't too bad on the water Saturday. I didn't sweat much coach. I guess it's because I'm such a petite little guy.

Ftpmike, thanks for the info. That's good to know. Do you long line in the fall with jigs?

yes when I can. Sometimes I use minnards but don't particularly care for it but do spider rig some

Too early for serious long lining just yet. Water needs to cool down to about 72 degrees. StY after them Brad. They get hot then you can take me .

Phillip I just nearly went this afternoon. I got tied up at the shop and didn't get to leave until about 5:15. I'd been wanting to go all day. I know I could have caught them spider rigging shallow today as cloudy and cool as it was.
