Went trolling on 8/21 and tried deeper water and deeper running cranks. Had no success. Once I started changing baits back to my normal setup and pulling across points and channel ledges the bites picked up. Nothing special though. Caught two small crappie and about a 3# blue. All were sent back.
Yesterday, I got home, cut the grass and decided to run out for a couple hours and see if I could put a flathead in the boat. The bite was nonexistent from about 5:45-6:30. Then the switch flipped on. Caught a nice channel cat (for Wylie). I switched spots, and couldn't get all the rods out before I had about a 5# blue on. Had another decent fish that got wrapped up in a tree. About 15 min later we wrangled in a nice female in the teens. Decided to call it a day after that. Wish the weather would stay like this for a while.
