My Merc 9.8 has suddenly developed a problem that I can't solve. It starts, runs for 5 sec. and dies. Fuel pours out of the carb throat. LOTS of fuel! If I squeeze the bulb more gas runs out. Any ideas?

Float is stuck open.

Might as well change the gaskets and needle and seat while you're at it.
my 50 hp Evinrude did that there was a small hole in the pump diaphragm.
Like seated Cow said ,,Maybe trash in seat hole or sunk float due to float filled with gas...
